Frosting.

After many, many botched attempts I've finally been successful in icing cupcakes! I used a combination of this tutorial and this one for the two-tone effect.

These cakes are for a charity bake sale at work tomorrow, so I thought I'd put in a little extra effort :) you can't really tell from the photos but there's also glitter on top.

Intentional Light Leaks.

I used my SuperHeadz Blue Ribbon for this set of photos, and experimented with opening the back of the camera, only slightly and only for a split second, to see what I could get in terms of light leaks. I was inspired by this photo by kelley f, who I chatted to a bit when I was planning her feature on 27 Kodak Moments, and she told me this was the method she used to achieve this.

Some interesting results....

A Gift from a Friend.

What a busy weekend! Friday after work I went to my friend Lee's house. She always cooks amazing food and she didn't disappoint this time with a piri-piri chicken themed feast (with spicy rice, potato wedges, halloumi cheese, the works!) then we did the usual thing when we get together and played a board game, this time the Game of Life. Yes we're that cool.

Saturday we went to Norwich. I took a lot of photos, but all on film (I took 4 cameras with me!) so it'll be a while before I get them back unfortunately. I tried out my Diana F+ for the first time but I didn't feel very comfortable using it so I think I need to practice with that a bit more before trying to take decent photos!

And finally today me and my friend Jo went to Westfield Stratford City :) the trains were a nightmare (as usual) so I drove but it was actually a really good journey. And we got to drive through the Olympic Park, which was amazing!

So now onto the whole reason for this post....Jo's dad gave me a gift. I know I've mentioned sometime in the past that I have a Praktica L2. Well Jo was telling her dad about it and he remembered he also had a Praktica, so he dug it out and as he never uses it he gave it to me! Along with a whole load of other camera goodies, including numerous flashes and lenses (check out the amazing telephoto one, you could see to the moon with that beauty!) So it all needs a good clean because it's amazingly dusty (Jo's house is a bit of a worksite, her dad's a builder and he's been renovating the house for, oh, about eight years or so :S) and I need to ask my dad (he's full of camera knowledge) what half of it is, but I'm very excited to use it all!

My two Prakticas :) I love the strap on the [new] one.

I may have to rethink my "camera museum" (as my mum calls it!) to fit all this stuff in. But I might just sit the case on the floor in front of the shelf the rest of my cameras are on. Makes more sense.

There's some great light things going on in this set of photos I just uploaded to my Flickr :) They were all taken with my SuperHeadz Blue Ribbon Super Fat Lens 35mm camera.

White and Cream Dreamcatcher.

I managed to find enough leftover materials from last week's white dreamcatcher to make another one, which is now up for sale in my Folksy shop! And at the bargain price of only £5! After all, I'm not doing this for profit, it's just something fun I enjoy and occasionally my sister joins in, which is always nice. So the price is just to cover materials.

Anyway, this one has slightly less hanging off it than the other one did, but you can see it all better. And the sequins didn't want to cooperate so they might be re-done before anyone buys it.

UPDATE
Also now for sale is this Love Letter Embroidery Hoop, perfect as a wall hanging!

Let Me Tell You About My Weekend So Far...

I've been very neglectful of late. But I'm trying to rectify that. I just uploaded a few photos to Flickr (freshly scanned ones as well, not from my backlog!) and I just blogged about them.

And now I'm going to tell anyone who might be interested about what else has been happening recently.

I'm still working full time monday to friday, which is the main reason why I haven't been on here - there's just no time to do anything worth blogging about! It means I haven't had a chance to use some of the new cameras I bought, and I've had to stop myself buying anymore until I get round to trying out the ones I already have (which sucks because I really want a Superheadz Black Devil Camera)

Anyway, I had a day off yesterday to help set up the reception for my step-cousin's wedding. It was in Bury St. Edmunds, and the bride's dad and his wife (my aunt - try to keep up if you can!) live in Portugal so they'd been staying with us all week while they prep (they did all the catering) so me, my aunt and my uncle went up on friday morning to set up the reception, which was in a former night club so didn't have proper lighting and it was also freeeeezing. Like so cold that I now have a cold :( I only took my Praktica along, which doesn't work too well in the dark so I didn't really get any photos, but there were hundreds of balloons and all these little butterflies everywhere, it was so pretty. And I got to be crafty so that's always a bonus when I don't get to do anything like that at work. After a frantic rush to get all the food done (I was icing cupcakes :) ) we got changed and headed over to the actual wedding. It was in a registry office because my cousin unexpectedly became pregnant so they only had 6 weeks to prepare it all. But it was still really nice, and I was only a little bit jealous that someone younger than me was getting married (although only by 5 days!) Then the usual happenings of a wedding reception, which was pretty boring because I didn't really know anyone and my mum and uncle were very embarrassingly dancing to 'Mama do the Hump' and 'Sexy and I Know It'. Just wrong.

So moving onto today, saturday. I sold something from my Folksy shop, Wishcatcher Crafts! I sold this Follow Your Heart Framed Embroidered Text (which might look familiar if you've seen photos of my frame wall)
So yeah, I had to quickly take it down and package it up, and hopefully my mum will be able to take it to the post office on monday (again work is getting in the way of me being able to do it!)

For the rest of today I've been sorting out the monumental mess that is my wardrobe:
(excuse the terrible photos, I took them on my Blackberry)

Before

The crap I'm throwing out (or a lucky charity shop somewhere will be receiving!)

After

So it still looks pretty full, but it's much more organised now (it goes skirts, what few pairs of jeans I have, dresses in colours black - grey - blue - mixed colours - floral - cream - white, shirts, cardigans and finally blazers/jackets/coats. And I got rid of enough pairs of shoes to clear the floor. And the top bit I couldn't really be bothered to sort properly so I just moved a few things around.

So that's pretty much my weekend so far. I'm knackered now because I tried on everything I'm getting rid of and that's A LOT of clothes! I'm planning to make some more white dreamcatchers tomorrow to sell in my Folksy shop.
