Final Show Setup.

Another day at uni today setting up the final show. There were actually quite a few people in today, for a change.

We were setting up the shelves that the boxes will sit on in the show.

There was a bit of a debate afterwards about how to paint the shelves. They were originally supposed to be all white, then they changed it to gray joins and white bases, just anything except the blue the uprights currently are. I left midway through this discussion so don't know what the conclusion was!

I only helped with one shelf because I was back in my box factory ;)

I had Dan as my box making assistant today. He was trimming the boxes while I put them together and cut the corrugated card sheets for inside.

We made about 40 boxes, which was very tedious and time consuming, but someone had to do it and there is a great sense of achievement when looking at the boxes all stacked up. People have started taking them to work on their ideas for their work, so it'll all start coming together soon (hopefully!)

I've taken my box home so I can design the flaps, which I'll be doing tomorrow.

Final Show Box.

I've started planning my box for the final show.

I had to use an oversized one, my box fit perfectly inside but the Nestle bottle sticks out just that little bit too far for the flaps to shut. Plus, I want to stick things to the inside flaps so it's better that there's more space to work with.

So there's quite a bit of space surrounding my box. I'm thinking of using items from the logos and have them meandering out from where the book is in the box and up the inside of the flaps. I've got everything I used for the logos in a massive bag in my wardrobe so I'll have to try and carry it all in to uni next week and have a play with the layout.

Had to label my box so no one nicks it!!

Final Show Setup.

Another day setting up the final show today.

I now seem to be in charge of everyone's boxes, which would be alright if anyone actually bothered coming in to translate their work into their box, but no one seems to care enough which isn't good.

I'm worried the show will look awful because only a few of us are actually committed to helping out.

Anyway, today it was me Aithche and Lola making the boxes and Filiz came in to paint the final room, the motion studio.

We had a bit of a production line going on - Aithche was cutting the corrugated card into sheets to lay in the bottom of the box (from the massive roll), Lola was trimming the boxes and I put it all together, joining the boxes together and putting the card sheets inside.

We were only allowed to make a few today because there isn't any space to store them over the weekend, but there's 107 students supposedly in the show and almost all of them need a box, so I've got a lot to do next week! I've got some helpers, but someone needs to be in charge and that's apparently me!

How the boxes look. Everyone will be in charge of their own box, the tutors want a hole cut into the card sheet so the work sits nicely in it and doesn't move around.
