These rather lovely dreamcatchers are all my sister's creation. She won't let me just have one either, I have to buy it. From myself :S

Swans.

Taking the little dog for a walk earlier I walked past a lake, which had a gaggle of geese and a couple of swans lazily floating along the water.

I really need a better zoom lens, but here's some ideas for the wildlife photography competition I want to enter:

Feather Inks.

I did some more work on my feather project this weekend.

I incorporated a style of working I used previously in an illustration module at uni involving inks and dragging the colours down the page. I love this effect, and it's so easy to do.

I drew most of the feathers with ink, but used a black pen for a couple (which I don't think works as well)

Abberton Reservoir.

I made a little detour on my way home from work experience today, to try and capture the sunlight over Abberton Reservoir. I think I succeeded :)

I spent a lot longer there than I had originally planned (I left work at half 5 and didn't get home until 7 :S) because there were so many feathers! And really nice and different feathers too, like from geese and swans. The ones I really wanted were all out of reach (there was a fence) but I still probably picked up about 50, of all shapes and sizes, including some really long ones :) a good haul.

I love the way you can see the rays of sun breaking through the clouds :)

The reflection on the water in these is amazing.

Feather Inspiration.

There were a couple of feather related projects at the final show, which have inspired me with my self-initiated feather project.

These delicate feathers were on clock mechanisms on stands, so they rotated.

Close up photographs, which I've been meaning to replicate since I started the project.

Eagle cushion with real feathers attached - really nice idea.

Feather Installations.

We had a box frame going spare so I decided to incorporate it into my feather project.

I really like the outcome so I think this is an idea I will explore further.

Detail

Breeze.

So motion work is by no means my strong point, but I wanted to experiment a bit with my feather project, so I had a go at making a stop motion.

It's very simple and there's not really any story about it, it just looks at a feather blowing in the breeze.

Delicate.

Now that I'm home from London and have a break from working on the show I wanted to do something completely different, and after picking up some more feathers while out walking the dog I decided to work into this self-initiated project some more.

I therefore made 2 garlands of feathers, and hung these up in the garden to take photographs.

I was concentrating on the delicacy of feathers and their use in flight.

I also separated the chain of pigeon feathers and hung them up individually above the bench in my garden.

There was an ever so slight breeze so the feathers were moving around.

I tried to capture this on film (I wanted to experiment a little) but they mostly just tangled themselves up. I managed to get a little bit of footage and have imported this into iMovie, which I'm going to play around with a little this weekend.
